The initial interview/screen with the recruiter was great. She was very friendly and knowledgeable - I was excited to move forward after speaking with her.
The second interview with the manager and senior member of the team was one of (if not the) worst interviews I’ve ever had. The senior team member was nice - quiet, but asked decent questions. She almost seemed afraid to talk/say the wrong thing or maybe she was just quiet. The manager was odd - he asked random specific questions about prior jobs, as if he was trying to catch me not knowing (questioned a specific file type because “it had been so long since he had used it” and asked if I had worked for a specific person at a prior company). He also asked numerous questions that were identical to the questions the senior team member had already asked. I’m not sure if he wasn’t listening when they were discussed prior or if he was trying to make sure I answered them the same way. Very off-putting and I decided halfway through the already-short interview that I was not interested in moving forward.
I would definitely not apply for jobs in this department moving forward, but I’m hoping that other departments are not the same because this genuinely seems like a good company to work for.
