      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at HubSpot

      Interview

Awful - made me complete a case study only to tell me "they've identified me at a lower level". Funny thing is that they couldn't even match what my current employer offered and were conducting the interview in a unilateral way (as if they were "right" about their decisions) when its evident that HubSpot is not that great and fair with employees. If anything - I've identified Hubspot to be a presumably awful and biased place to work if this is how they make their decisions. Feedback was very willy nilly - nothing solid. The culture code seems to be all smokes and mirrors - don't believe what you hear from this company and beware of how they represent things during the recruitment process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

basic behavioral questions - opinions made on subjective opinions and whether the interviewer "liked" you. the whole process was a complete joke.

      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at HubSpot

      Interview

Recruiter screen, hiring manager, take home and onsite. The recruiter downleveled me after I submitted the take home and said "they've identified me at a lower level" without any basis or rationale - just willynilly - well based on your presentation and how you interviewed which of course isn't something I can work off of concretely or take to heart. Supremely subjective and I thought rather unfair and biased. I went through with the onsite and had people ask basic behavioral questions but didn't seem nearly as engaged or care. It seems like the company is hiring for a "type" of person (i.e. on the basis of race, orientation, etc.) versus someone who could work hard and contribute - merit seems to be secondary at this place in favor of "fit" (read between the lines here). This is probably very telling of the culture where hard work isn't rewarded but who you are is. I feel like in the Product Analytics department specifically there may be a bias and favoritism towards caucasian candidates and minorities are looked upon with a bias of low expectations and as inherent underperformers (no matter how hard they work) or worker bees. The most frustrating part is that they couldn't even match what my employer was paying me but had me jump through so many hoops with the hiring manager (Senior Director) and recruiter speaking to me in a rather condescending tone as if they were doing me a huge favor. Please don't waste my time with the take home if the intent was to bait and switch me into a lower level right after and present lower pay than my current employer - I will continue to get the word out there about HubSpot. All in all - don't apply here and definitely don't proceed with the take home since they will in all likelihood make unilateral decisions on a rather subjective basis (i.e. this candidate "lacks leadership" since they are not so and so). Don't ever buy their nonsense of downleveling or if deciding to not pay you what you are worth - its in your control (especially as a minority) and your right to leave for greener pastures and better growth if they ever impose this nonsense on you. Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at HubSpot in Nov 2022

      Interview

Phone screen with recruiter, zoom screen with hiring manager, zoom presentation with colleagues. I was treated with respect, learned a lot, and was given helpful feedback. Would happily apply again.
