Job Summary
The Department of University Relations at Columbus State University is seeking a qualified Web Developer. This position requires a diverse set of skills, primarily utilizing web design and development. The successful candidate will serve as a web designer/developer working with University Relations and other departments on campus in designing and assisting in the development and maintenance of departmental web pages. This positions reports to the Web Content Manager and may supervise student assistants in the development and maintenance of web pages.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: planning, programming, designing, developing, directing, continuous integration, and upgrading Columbus State University websites; supporting the Web Content Manager and University Relations in programming content and improving usability of Columbus State University’s webpages; working closely with University Information and Technology Services staff as needed in support of university and departmental goals; designing, developing, and maintaining the Columbus State University internet web sites and pages in a content management system under the supervision of the Web Content Manager; serving as a consultant to faculty and staff for the design, development, management, and maintenance of departmental websites, web pages, and web-related technologies; designing graphics and images for use on the Columbus State University websites under the supervision of the Web Content Manager; and all other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; or a related field, such as Marketing or Communications; experience with web development; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must be an expert in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; expert in responsive design; comfortable with PHP, using WordPress, and creating custom post types; demonstrated experience in the use of Premium Themes; comfortable building custom themes; comfortable using a wide range of WordPress plugins and third-party integrations; universally CMS savvy (to include non-WordPress CMS); an appreciation for web design and the ability to translate designs into polished, working, websites; a demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud to optimize images, export project assets, and make basic edits to design files; a demonstrated knowledge of web accessibility and web usability guidelines and practices; the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Proposed Salary
The salary is commensurate with education and experience.
