Position Overview
Job Title: Microvellum Production Engineer
Location: Del Valle, TX (On-site required for this position)
Department: Engineering
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Schedule: 8am-5pm (Occasional overtime when needed)
About the Role
A Microvellum Production Engineer is a specialized professional in the woodworking and manufacturing industry who combines engineering, design, and software expertise to plan and optimize the production of custom cabinetry, furniture, and architectural millwork using Microvellum.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Drafting: Create detailed 2D/3D models of cabinets, casework, and millwork using Microvellum (built on AutoCAD).
- Engineering for Production: Convert designs into production-ready data—cut lists, toolpaths, and CNC instructions.
- CNC Programming: Prepare files for automated machinery to cut and machine parts accurately
- Material Optimization: Maximize sheet usage and reduce waste through nesting and optimization tools.
- ERP Integration: Integrate engineering data with ERP systems to support material planning, purchasing, job costing, and production scheduling.
- Standards & Libraries: Build and maintain reusable product libraries, parametric components, and company standards.
- Troubleshooting: Solve issues related to machining, assembly, or software workflows.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Strong understanding of millwork/cabinet construction methods
- Proficiency in Microvellum and AutoCAD
- Familiarity with ERP systems and data workflows
- Knowledge of CNC machinery and manufacturing processes
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with materials like wood, metal, solid surface, laminates, and hardware systems
- 3+ years of Microvellum experience, combined with 5+ years of comprehensive experience in the millwork industry
· Ability to manage assigned workload on a weekly basis
Preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microvellum, including parametric library development, toolbox configuration, and custom reporting
- Working knowledge of G-code or machine-level programming (a plus)
- Understanding of lean manufacturing, process improvement, or production optimization principles
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with production, purchasing, and project management teams
- Hands-on shop or installation experience (highly valued)

Work Environment & Expectations
- Our office is located 15 mins outside of Austin, Texas and this posting is for in-house position
- Will be expected to walk shop when applicable
- Expected to meet average company throughput after 30-day mark
