Job Summary:
At Point Predictive, we build predictive artificial intelligence models built that power new levels of lending confidence and speed, while protecting against the full scope of fraud risk. Our solutions quickly and accurately identify who is reporting truthfully on loan applications and who is not. As a result, lenders can fund the majority of loans easily without asking applicants for onerous documentation.
We're a fast-paced team of engineers and data scientists looking for a hands-on Software QA and Test Automation Engineer who’s passionate about delivering top-notch software. If you’re excited about building and improving testing processes, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
Perform manual, exploratory, and automated testing for new and existing product functionality.
Test REST APIs, request/response structures, UI behavior, business logic, data validation, and error handling.
Create, maintain, and expand automated regression tests using Python and pytest.
Investigate customer-reported issues, reproduce problems, analyze expected versus actual behavior, and document findings.
Work with databases and SQL queries to validate results and investigate issues.
Review logs and system behavior to help identify root causes of defects and unexpected behavior.
Collaborate closely with developers, data scientists, QA, and other team members.
Participate in requirements discussions to help clarify expected behavior before development is completed.
Ask questions, identify gaps in requirements, and help make sure new features meet business and customer expectations.
Support release validation, regression planning, and release sign-off activities.
Continuously improve QA processes, development workflows, test coverage, and automation reliability.
What We’re Looking For
Experience in software QA with both manual testing and test automation responsibilities.
Experience testing backend systems and REST APIs.
Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, including collections, environments, variables, and request scripts.
Experience writing automated tests in Python, preferably using pytest.
Understanding of JSON and XML response validation.
Ability to design test scenarios that cover happy paths, negative cases, edge cases, and regression risks.
Experience with SQL.
Familiarity with Git and working in a collaborative development workflow.
Ability to investigate existing functionality, understand how it works, and determine what behavior is expected.
Analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially when working with unclear requirements or complex backend behavior.
Good communication skills and a team player attitude.
Comfortable working in a small team where QA is expected to be proactive, take ownership, ask questions, and help improve both the product and the testing process.
Willingness to work on both manual and automated testing rather than focusing only on one area.
Nice to Have
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
Familiarity with AWS, CloudWatch, or similar cloud/logging platforms.
Experience with Selenium or other UI automation tools.
Experience testing scoring systems, data-heavy products, or other systems with complex business logic.
Familiarity with Agile development practices.
Basic familiarity with data science, machine learning concepts, or predictive models is a plus.
