Pros

Money, benefits, location, area, close to downtown

Cons

IT dept is being torn apart right now. It used to be the best dept to work in. It's not anymore. It's not a Safe to Say environment anymore. There are snitches in the department. They are not promoting from within. They are bringing outside folks instead. They are trying to get rid of the older and bring in newer. They are top heavy which they never were before. Many employees are leaving and going elsewhere. More are looking to get out as well. It is scary.

Next, external expertise and resources are critical to help us deliver solutions to our customers in a scalable way. But this external support does not take away from career growth and development opportunities for our current workforce and we hope you can take advantage of all that Ameren offers you. Finally, please make room on your schedule to attend our face-to-face, department-wide meetings which are also a great source of information regarding our future direction.

Pros

The pay was okay but not worth what I experienced.

Cons

My experience working on a contract with Ameren was extremely disappointing. The biggest issue was the complete lack of communication and professionalism from management. I was let go without any prior conversation, feedback, or warning. There was no discussion about performance, no opportunity to improve, and no basic respect shown in how the situation was handled. Being dismissed without even a conversation reflects very poorly on leadership and company culture. The environment felt highly unorganized, with unclear expectations and inconsistent communication across teams. It often seemed like there was no structure or accountability from management, which made it difficult to succeed in the role. If you’re considering working here, especially in a contract position, I would strongly encourage you to think twice. Job security and transparency are not prioritized, and employees are not treated with the level of respect they deserve.
