      good culture, you do a lot of things outside of work with the team, free lunches

      Cons

      Leaders who have never actually done the job trying to coach you, with little real focus on development. Make sure you start on the right team otherwise you could find yourself doing mostly outbound work and if you’re the rep who doesn’t get inbound leads and you miss quota, it can feel pretty discouraging. There’s a lot of politics. Promotions don’t always seem tied to performance or attainment often it feels more about optics than results. And too many unnecessary meetings!!

      Pros

      The people at AppFolio are incredible—smart, thoughtful, collaborative, and genuinely committed to doing great work. That level of talent creates a very positive and supportive working environment. Many of the relationships and teams there are truly special, and the people are the reason the culture has historically been so strong. I genuinely wanted to build a long-term career there because of the quality of the people.

      Cons

      As the company has scaled, many processes and guidelines have scaled with it. In some cases this has introduced a level of rigidity where policy and process outweigh reason and common sense. Decision-making authority that used to sit with managers increasingly feels centralized through templated HR processes. Career growth and role progression have also become more structured, which can limit the ability for employees to grow organically as their responsibilities expand.
