Pros

The lab jobs require no degree (pays better than similar jobs) The engineering jobs require minimum experience, but a degree in the relevant field. (underpays engineering) Good about hiring from within, but limited opportunities for promotion and low cap.

Cons

Low paid for the amount of work and required quality of deliverables. Semi-toxic environment (a lot of blame from higher ups and a lot of yelling at employees in the labs) High volume workload, undersold projects to keep company from going into red, puts lots of stress on both the engineering and lab side. Disorganized: Good for new engineers to get their professional experience, but loses engineers because they've worked at better more organized companies in the past.

Pros

Cool material Lots of learning in excel Good flexibility and pto Nice coffee machine

Cons

Horrible health insurance benefits Salary is a fraction of market standard Engineers start as technicians, working either a morning or night shift No honesty, employees will be let go with no notice or attempt at improvement High turnover across departments (disproportionately women) Isolating work culture, senior engineers are discouraging Barely any women in the office (I can think of 12 in the whole building, across departments) No mentoring structure Requires late or early hours, in sync w morning and night shifts Growth opportunities capped, once a project engineer, no room to grow further
