Good talent and flexibility, challenged by shifting direction and unclear expectations - Account Executive III Rackspace Technology Employee Review

Pros

Rackspace has a lot of smart, capable people who genuinely care about customers. The work can be interesting, especially if you enjoy complex environments and problem-solving. The company offers solid benefits, flexible work-from-home options, and exposure to large enterprise customers. There are pockets of strong collaboration, and when teams are aligned, good work can happen.

Cons

Leadership direction and expectations can feel inconsistent, particularly within sales. Metrics and performance expectations are sometimes set without fully accounting for account maturity, inherited books of business, or sales cycle realities. Reorganizations, shifting strategies, and frequent changes in leadership create uncertainty and make it difficult to build sustained momentum. Coaching and performance processes can feel reactive rather than developmental, and communication around expectations is not always clear or timely.

Pros

Nice people for the most part

Cons

Weak leadership with 7 CEOs in 10 years. Strategy shifts can change every week/month. Silos everwhere. Massive disconnect between leadership and how the company actually functions. Uses as much freeware as possible and is using Excel to run the company. Promos are given to people who have been there a long time that mean well but have no idea what standard industry practices are. Visibility is prioritized over productivity. Heavy mgt "leadership" and few implementers. Likes to talk about innovation but is run by manual processes. Tenured people cling to out dated ways of doing things. Company is not doing well and there is a lot of chaos and churn. There is a lot of scope creep that is not compensated for either.
