I recently went through the interview process for a position at Care.com. In the beginning, the communication was great and everything seemed organized. However, as the process went on, the communication steadily declined. By the time I reached the third and “final” round of interviews, I was hopeful because of the positive feedback I had received. I spent a lot of time prepping and rearranging my life around these interviews, feeling like I was really respecting their time.
Unfortunately, after the final interview, I didn’t hear the results for over a week. My follow-up emails went unanswered, which was especially disappointing since I had invested so much time and energy into the process. When I finally heard back, I was told they had chosen another candidate. I asked for feedback, but only received a vague, non-committal response.
I felt that I had respected their time throughout the process, but they didn’t respect mine. I understand that not every candidate can be chosen, but the lack of follow-through and the decline in communication made the experience feel unprofessional and discouraging. Better communication and transparency would have made a big difference.
